16 Rue du Marché

When we acquired the building at 16 Rue du Marché in 1989, our strategy was to transform the property into a signature office and retail destination befitting its prime location on in the heart of the CBD.

By upgrading the top floors into modern luxury office suites, we were able to attract a stable roster of private equity firms and fund managers – enabling the building to retain a less than 1% vacancy for the past 10 years. For the retail portion of the property, we secured Payot Librairie, a leading bookstore with a significant presence throughout Switzerland. Occupying four full levels the building, this Payot location has become one of the most active in the country.

Completely refurbished over a six year period, the renovated property today features a façade and lobby of limestone imported from Chassagne, Burgundy and massive oak wood doors. The courtyard and the staircase, dating from the 18th Century, were also restored to their original splendor. Most notably, we preserved a 2,000-year-old Roman well that was discovered on the lower retail level during construction.
